Dear Mikans,
We’re back! 
The Mikan Film Fest is returning for its second year — and we want to see YOUR films on the big screen. Proceeds from the festival will help support the AJET Scholarship Fund, so your creativity helps give back to our kids!
What lies beneath the peel? That’s for you to decide. Peel back the layers and show us your story.

Who can submit? Current Ehime JETs and recent alumni (within the past five years)
Deadline: January 19, 2026
Film Length: 
30 seconds – 7 minutes 
Prompt: Submit a film – anything under the Mikan sun . From holiday comedies to spooky shorts to heartfelt documentaries about life in Japan – anything goes.
Format: MP4 — please use a 16:9 landscape aspect ratio for optimal display 
How to submit: Upload your film to Google Drive and send us the link via the submission form

Content Guidelines
“Anything under the Mikan sun” really does mean anything — as long as it’s safe and respectful! To keep the festival fun and welcoming for everyone, we will not accept:
- Hate speech or discriminatory content
- Pornography / nudity
- Depictions of animal cruelty
- Excessive or gratuitous violence
- Content that may endanger individuals or communities

Q. What is the Mikan Film Fest?
A. A community film festival where Mikans submit and showcase their own short films.
Q. What kind of films will be shown?
A. That’s the fun part — we don’t know yet! Since the films are created by Mikans, expect a wide variety of genres and styles.
Q. Does my film have to be about Ehime or Japan?
A. Nope! Your film can be set anywhere and about anything – personal stories, fiction, animation, culture, social topics, or experimental art. The key is to make it creative, authentic, and engaging!
Q. I’ve never made a film before. Can I still join?
A. Absolutely! Beginners, first-timers, and seasoned filmmakers are all welcome.
Q. Will the films have subtitles?
A. This depends on the creator. Please include English subtitles if the film or scenes are not in English.
Q. Who can attend?
A. Everyone!
Q. Who organizes the festival?
A. The festival is organized by the Mikan Film Fest Team, celebrating creativity and storytelling in our community, supported by Ehime AJET.
